The game began with Brook Lopez going on a personal 5-0 run for the Clippers. Austin Reaves scored the first five points for the Lakers. The offense started to pick up for the Lakers, who were now shooting 80% from the field.

After a back-and-forth first half saw both teams lead, the Lakers surged out of the gate in the second half and built up multiple double-digit leads. A feisty Golden State team kept making runs but LA had a response each time.

Luka left the game late in the second quarter and was ruled out for the contest with left leg soreness. Reaves picked up the slack with 35 points off the bench as he eases back into action from his injury.

The Lakers scored 45 points in the first quarter, 69 in the first half and built up a 39-point lead before the break. Predictably, the second half was little more than conditioning for the two sides with Brooklyn making the score look much more respectable.

Shooting woes doom Lakers in Madison Square Garden

The purple and gold led for stretches of the game, but a run in the third period for New York moved them ahead by double digits and forced the Lakers to play catch-up. The trio of Jake LaRavia, Marcus Smart and Jarred Vanderbilt highlighted the shooting struggles as they combined to go 4-20 from the field and 2-13 from three.

After their worst loss of the season against the Cavs, the Lakers bounced back with a 142-111 blowout victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night. It was LA’s largest win of the season.

The game began with the Cavaliers quickly going up by five. LA missed their first two shot attempts, both by Luka Dončić. The deficit grew to seven after a dunk by Jarrett Allen. Deandre Ayton got the Lakers on the board with a layup. Los Angeles went on an 8-0 run to take over the lead.

Luka Dončić poured in 46 points and the Lakers put together one of their better defensive performances of the season as they knocked off the Bulls in Chicago, 129-118.

The Lakers used a strong first half to hold a comfortable lead for much of the second half. All of that disappeared in the third quarter as LA was thoroughly outplayed, losing the period 35-14.

It was an offensive showdown early. Denver was a perfect 5-5 from the field, while Los Angeles was shooting at 80%. Luka Dončić couldn’t miss and was in double figures with 12 points. Jamal Murray was also perfect from the field with eight points.

After a back-and-forth first half saw both teams hold nine-point leads, the Lakers used a big second-half run to blow the game open. Jarred Vandebrilt and Drew Timme had big nights off the bench while LeBron James, Deandre Ayton and Luka Dončić all had at least 20 points.

For the second time this week, the Lakers put up an embarrassing performance as they were run off the floor by the Hornets on Thursday, 135-117. The Lakers led by as many as 13 points in the first quarter and held a nine-point advantage heading into the second period. However, they lost each of the next three quarters, including being outscored 34-16 in the second.
